Gun Ban : Obama takes action without congress Vote

President Obama Says He’ll Take Action ‘Without a Vote in Congress’ to Push Through Gun Control Agenda

President Obama and his staff are nearing the final draft of their plan to expand firearm background checks without consulting Congress on its legality, the Associated Press reports.

Senior adviser to the President, Valerie Jarrett spoke about the White House’s prospective plan to enact new gun control measures during a vigil in Washington, D.C., Wednesday evening. As the AP notes:

“White House adviser Valerie Jarrett says the president has asked his team to complete a proposal and submit it for his review ‘in short order.’ She says the recommendations will include measures to expand background checks.”

The move comes in response to recent mass shootings which have rattled the country. And while one of them was the result of a pre-meditated jihadist terror attack, none of the recent attacks would have been prevented due to currently proposed gun control measures.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) reiterated the claim that no such proposals could have prevented the major shootings of the past few years, which upon analysis, is a correct assertion.

But if the President wants to make end-around changes to America’s gun laws, he will likely face backlash from a Republican, and thus heavily pro-gun, Congress.
